And honestly if Tuxera being a lot faster isn't enough of a reason for the OP to figure out which is better for the 'normal' user then I don't know what is. Hi, try MHDD, it is the freeware program for low-level HDD diagnostics. MHDD is bootable (on CD), independent of your operating system. Some links are on http://hddguru.com/content/en/software/2005.10.02-MHDD/, including ISO of the bootable CD.
