1. Radiologic Dj Midi Surface Pro
  2. Dj Midi Controller
Hi
Does anyone here use a MIDI keyboard controller connected to their Surface Pro?
I've been given an old Evolution MX149 that I've been given. It looks like I need a MIDI-USB conversion lead but if I get that, does the sound card have the MIDI capabilities that I need? Do I need drivers or will it plug in and make a noise instantly? (No, I don't have drivers so the sooner I start looking for them the better)
How hard is it to set up a MIDI keyboard? Any tips and tricks would be welcome.
Thanks in advance.
Martin

For all of you with Windows 8.1 tablets or touch devices there's finally a way to control MIDI devices, such as plugins in Studio One. Look here: http://www.kvraudio.com/news/level-6-productions-releases-ymidi-touch-enabled-midi-controller-for-windows-8-1-25126
yMIDI is an inexpensive $2.99 and comes with a trial version, too. After I installed the RTP MIDI driver on my DAW PC I downloaded yMIDI from the Windows Store to my Surface 2. Then I connected both PC and the Surface through the app and was able to play and control a VST running in Studio One. Touch input was quite responsive and much better than expected. The feature set is still pretty limited, but I'm impressed how well yMIDI already works.
I can only encourage you to try it yourself. The potential is great and I haven't seen anything similar that's also compatible with Windows RT.
